about

Joe Cefalu is a Media Composer, Arranger, and Pianist. Coming from a musical family, he was surrounded by music growing up - from starting piano lessons at the age of five to sitting in the pit of countless musicals as a child. Joe began playing professionally at age eleven, beginning with musical theatre. He began to branch out and perform at numerous classical and jazz venues throughout high school, simultaneously gaining experience as an orchestral percussionist and marching snare drummer.

Joe is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music (Media Composition) at California State University, Northridge. During his studies he has excelled in both performing and composing. He was awarded Outstanding Musician in CSUN's Studio Ensemble for his musical arrangements (2019), has maintained placement on the Dean's List since 2018, and is a current member of CSUN's esteemed Jazz Combos.

Outside of school, Joe is an active composer and performer. He has written trailer music for a new circus company, arranged instrumental parts for various songwriters, and performs regularly with The (408) Collective (band). Venues with the latter include the San Jose Jazz Festival, multiple city-organized events, and a residency at California's Great America.

What Joe appreciates most about music in media is its broad diversity in style, setting, and culture; there is something for everyone in multimedia arts. Joe endeavors to bring to the table a deep understanding of his clients' musical needs, as well as a true passion for music. He looks forward to collaborating with fellow creatives to inspire and enlighten others through the arts.
